Sensitivity

• Living things are sensitive to their environment and respond to any changes, known as stimuli.

• For example, flowers often close up at night and open again in the morning; barnacles open and close depending on whether they are covered by water or not; and the pupils in a cat’s eyes dilate (get larger) in the dark or when it is frightened.

All living things are sensitive to environmental changes.
