6 | Transfer of Energy

Transfer of Energy

  • Energy can be transferred between objects.
  • The movement of the same type of energy from one location to another is known as energy transfer.
  • Energy transfer does not involve a change in the type of energy.
  • Only kinetic energy can be transferred between objects.
  • Example 1
  • When a bowling ball strikes bowling pins, some of the mechanical kinetic energy in the ball is transferred to the pins.
  • Example 2
  • When hot water is poured into a cup, some heat from the water is transferred to the cup.
  • We will look at energy transfer in more detail in a following lesson.
